Right (lower) valve is very convex, left valve concave.
Ribs of the right valve are less pronounced and square as in Pecten dorotheae Melvill in Melvill & Standen, 1907 from Yemen and Oman.
Closely related to Pecten afribenedictus Kilburn & Dijkstra, 1995 from South Africa. The left valve of Pecten afribenedictus has typical black zig-zag lines and the coloration of the right valve is usually brown-green.
